Our outing last week brought us to the Oakland Aviation Museum (a wonderful suggestion from one of our Community Life team members) located in the North Field of the Oakland International Airport on Earhart Rd. Does the last name Earhart sound familiar? The museum was founded 35 years ago as a non-profit organization. On display, they have over 30 vintage and modern airplanes, both civilian and military, with staff and volunteers poised to answer any and all questions. They have devoted a good sized room of the museum with a fascinating and educational exhibit of women pilots that’s a “must see” for all who visit. Would it be too corny to remark that our visit “flew by”?
