Last Thursday, The Gardens neighborhood visited the Oakland Zoo. When we first walked into the zoo, we saw beautiful Pink Flamingoes. As we moved throughout the zoo we saw Giraffes, African Veldt, and Egyptian Geese. One of the residents, Vernon, who has not been to the zoo for many years recalled going to the Maryland Zoo in Druid Hill Park and taking his two children to see the animals. As the day progressed we saw Baboons, River Otters, and Alligators. One of the resident’s favorite exhibits was the baboons. We watched as they climbed the trees, chased each other playing a game of tag, and groomed each other. Everyone could not believe that sheer diversity of monkeys that the Oakland Zoo had.
