On May 17, 2018 Bayside Park residents were treated to a delightful visit from the Piedmont Girl Scout Troop, bearing boxes of books they had collected in a book drive. We set out long tables and the girls displayed the books by genre, ranging from biographies to science fiction to coffee table photograph books. After the residents had gathered, the girls presented an original poem they had collectively written, each girl reading a part of the poem, celebrating their love of books and learning. Then each one presented a book of their choice, that reflected the genre they most enjoyed and why. The residents were then encouraged to peruse all the books the scouts had brought, each resident finding several books to take home. The remainder of the books were brought into our library to be enjoyed for many years to come. The girl scouts also visited our memory care residents where they gave their presentation and brought books to these residents as well. It was a wonderfully inspiring and educational afternoon, leaving our residents stimulated and appreciative!
